Why are so many staying silent on the Kurdish conflict?

The current war imposed on the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Kurdish people by the Erdogan regime in Turkey is not only causing terrible carnage in Turkish Kurdistan but was clearly aimed at making it increasingly difficult for the Kurdish people to have their say in Turkish politics through the HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Part). Turkish president Erdogan used the war and the ruthless suppression of the eastern provinces and the manufactured war on ‘terror’ to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation helping his AKP party to gain an unexpected overall majority in the latest election. He is now poised to secure for himself greater powers.
