Fate, Federal Court, Moon – a poem by Anne Carson

London Review of Books.

Faisal bin Ali Jaber, the subject of Anne Carson’s  poem, is an engineer from Yemen whose brother-in-law and nephew were mistakenly killed by a US drone strike in 2012. The US has never admitted responsibility. Lawyers for the human rights organisation Reprieve are helping Jaber seek an apology. He awaits a judgment from the Federal Court of Appeals in Washington. This poem first appeared in London Review of Books on March 16, 2017.
